Who can still remember Unix operating systems? A few years ago, Unix was the operating system for Abaqus Unified FEA. Over the decades, the number of supported operating systems for Abaqus Unified FEA has been significantly reduced. What remains are Windows from Microsoft and the two commercial Linux operating systems from Red Hat Enterprise and SUSE Linux Enterprise. In tow of the commercial Linux operating systems, Abaqus can also be run on OpenSource Linux operating systems.
The majority of our customers work with Windows. Linux offers advantages especially when operating a computing server with many CPU cores.
